If you rent a car in Alicante and stay in Benidorm then you are in a great position to experience everything that this place has to offer.  If you are staying ourside of Benidorm it is really worth a visit and easy to get to in your hire car from Alicante airport through the superb Spanish motorway network.

Everyone knows Benidorm for the night life and sure enough if you can imagine it you can find it in Benidorm.  Head into the Levante part of the town (New Town) and you will find a vast array of shops and of course bars offering everything from a quiet drink on the terrace to a loud and fun night out.

The Levante beach boasts kilometres of golden sand, blue sea and is certainly the busiest one in Benidorm.  By day you can rent a sun lounger and top up your tan or sit outside one of the countless beach-front bars watching the world go by.  By night the bars turn up the music and the party atmosphere begins whilst the Levante beach becomes rather beatiful as you see the strings of “lantern” style lights running along the promenade from one end to the other.  If you have a hire car you can take a drive to the top of the hill where the illuminated cross is and the views over the whole of town are breathtaking.

The night life in Benidorm new town really does offer something for everyone from quiet piano bars and restaurantes to an array of caberet and tribute acts, discos, magic acts and of course good old kareoke.  There are plenty of wierd and wonderful acts just for the grown-ups but we will let you discover those when you get there!  Don´t miss Benidorm Palace which is famous around the world and offers a spectacular dinner and show experience which is to the standards you would expect in Vegas. The hit TV series shows Benidorm in the extreme and yes indeed you will find countless mobility scooters driving around and parked up outside the bars but at the same time if all-inclusive endless drinking is not your cup of tea you are sure to find something that does make your holiday dreams come true in or around Benidorm.

The Poniente section of Benidorm (or “Old Town”) is a little more traditional with narrow cobbled streets filled with tapas bars (Tapas is the traditional way of eating lots of little things and getting to try out a wide selection of Spanish cuisine), some excellent restaurants which tend to be cosey but to a very good standard and of course not forgetting one of the oldest gay scenes in Europe where you can find everything from disco bars to drag acts which really can be quite entertaining.

When you hire a car in Alicante airport you should take a drive to Benidorm Poniente even if just for the day because the narrow streets are really very pretty and the Poniente beach tends is not only outstanding in cleanliness but generally much quieter than the Levante. Benidorm has hundreds upon hundreds of hotels ranging from low-cost budget right through to five star luxurious accomodation and some of the sky-scraper hotels provide some spectacular views.

Hiring a car from Alicante airport when going to Benidorm really does mean you can get out and about and explore some of the many attractions and places to see.  The theme park “Terra Mitica” is to the standard you would expect from any of the main theme parks in the UK or anywhere in the world.  Built onto the side of a mountain and based on various eras including ancient Egypt the rides, shows and attractions offer fun for all ages from those who like a gentle ride through to the thrill seekers.  Next to Terra Mitica is Aqualandia which is a great water park where you can enjoy everything from a relax in the pool to the fast and furious water rides.

Take your hire car for a short 15km drive to Algar and see the famous waterfalls “Las fuentes de l´algar” which make a lovely (and refreshing) day out where you can relax, swim under the waterfall and enjoy traditional Spanish lunch in one of the abundance of restaurants.  If you enjoy a great day out with stunning scenery then why not make the most of your hire car and take a drive to Guadalest which boasts real spanish tradition and is officially a Monument of Historical and Artistic Value.  There are loads of interesting museums including a “minature museum” and a “torture museum” to name a few.  After your day exploring this almost untouched Spanish village you can enjoy a meal with all that can be described as breathtaking views.
